Local artist Roland Wong of Ark of Hope with a piece of his work,'I Thirst' outside the ANZ Bank in Suva today.

Eighteen local artists and bands will perform a live concert April 24 in aid of victims of the recent Cyclone Tomas .

The concert is being organized by the Fiji National University in partnership with the Ministry of Information.

Event organizer Laisa Vulakoro confirmedthe appeal concert will be held at the Vodafone Arena.

“Our target is to collect up to $50,000 and we will also have a bucket at the venue where people can donate.

“We also have a bank account with BSP/Colonial Bank account number 7517512 opened particularly for this event,” she explained.

Vulakoro said two tents will be erected outside the Vodafone Arena where people can bring anything they want to give away like school books or clothes.

Top artists like Vulakoro, Vude King Seru Serevi, Ronald Jai, Exodus, Jale Mareau and bands from Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Force will perform at the concert.

“We will also have dance groups like Manikoso who will be performing in between and have altogether more than 100 performers entertaining the crowd from 2 pm till 9 pm,” Vulakoro said.

“We know times are hard, but up there in the affected areas, times are harder. So whatever you give will be much appreciated.”

Tickets will be sold for $5 per adult and $2 per child.

The concert will be officially be launched by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
