Tourism Fiji anjd Jetstar have produced one of Australia’s most popular AM news and current affairs programs, Channel Seven’s ‘Sunrise’. The programme

Vegemite and toast move over – the breakfast of choice and flavour of the moment for millions of Australians this week is Fiji.

And its all thanks to a TV initiative served up by Tourism Fiji and its newest airline partner Jetstar.

The two organisations have combined resources to provide one of Australia’s most popular AM news and current affairs programs, Channel Seven’s ‘Sunrise’ with an opportunity to broadcast its Australian weather reports live via satellite from Fiji for five days.

Locations for the broadcast include hotels and resorts on Viti Levu and in the Mamanuca Islands.

The program kicked off on Monday with the Intercontinental Golf Resort & Spa at Natadola providing the perfect backdrop for the first series of live crosses back to the show’s Sydney headquarters.

Fiji hotelier partners joining the exercise also include Shangri-La’s The Fijian Resort (venue on Tuesday), the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa (Wednesday), Plantation Island Resort (Thursday) and Musket Cove Island Resort (Friday).

All five hotelier partners’ properties and their various activities – from sports and kids clubs to culture and romantic venues - form stages for the national Australian weather updates delivered by high profile presenter Grant Denyer.

Tourism Fiji Regional Director Paresh Pant said the ‘Sunrise’ initiative was a great example of the benefits Tourism Fiji is accruing from its partnership with Jetstar which commenced flights into Nadi International Airport in late March.

“The airline has placed itself at our complete disposal since day one allowing us to tap directly into its vast network of resources, one of which is Channel Seven,” he said.

“This has provided Tourism Fiji with a huge opportunity to directly reach large numbers of Australian consumers over a drawn out period of time as evidenced by the ‘Sunrise’ broadcasts.

“At the same time the mix of hotels and resorts involved in the broadcast allows us to show just how multi-faceted Fiji has become to a discerning nationally-spread audience and the destination’s ability to service all travel requirements, irrespective of taste or budget.”
