The Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji has won HotelCLub.com’s Best Service Hotel’ award.

The announcement was made in Sydney last Wednesday night and was the result of more than 120,000 nominations received from consumers around the world.

The win was significant for the Outrigger team given that it won the service category against 300 short-listed hotels from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

“To be recognised by travellers who took the time to vote online was humbling and a great tribute to the 396 staff that work at the 5-star resort, said general manager Darren Shaw.

“Many guests who have stayed at Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji are touched by the warmth and friendliness of our staff, with many returning year after year from all corners of the world.

“Our staff epitomise the postcard images of smiling Fijians.

“They are genuinely happy and take great pride in going out of their way to ensure our guests needs are catered to and their expectations exceeded,” he added.

“We put a lot of time into ongoing development programmes and training, with many of our staff being long-term employees at the resort,” Shaw said.

HotelClub’s latest accolade follows on from a string of awards the 254-room resort has won over the years, and only last month, Shaw won the coveted South Pacific Hotel Manager of the Year accolade at the annual HM Awards.

“A resort is only as good as its people and I’m proud of each and every team member,” Shaw said.

“We’ve achieved a number of milestones over the past twelve months including the opening of our spectacular Bebe Sanctuary and Spa, Kalokalo Bar and Bure Ni Loloma Wedding Chapel, with a major room refurbishment programme that will underpin our continued success.

“Through ongoing product innovation, training and consistently high service standards, we will continue to complement and add value to Fiji’s growing international reputation as the South Pacific’s most idyllic holiday destination,” Shaw said.
