Pacific Sun liner tourists try on Indian costumes in the spirit of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, due this long weekend

A British-origin cruise liner now Australian owned docked at the Suva wharf this morning (Thursday) bringing more than 1800 tourists from Australia and New Zealand.

Pacific Agencies operations officer Tomasi Koto told Fijilive the Pacific Sun is carrying 1802 passengers.

The cruise liner docked at the Suva wharf after visiting Noumea.

Some of the passengers caught the local spirit of celebrations for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights due this weekend, by shopping for Diwali wear in some of the shops around Suva.

Koto said the Pacific Sun would leave for the northern tourist town of Savusavu at 6pm and then to Auckland.

Another cruise liner, the Amsterdam is expected to arrive in Suva on the 20th of this month on its way from Samoa.

After visiting Suva, the Amsterdam will go to Port Villa.
