Fiji National University's Film and Television department will soon produce a Fiji version of popular New Zealand television soap Shortland Street.

Senior lecturer Dr Satish Rai confirmed this to Fijilive during the auditions of Fiji born director Prem Siwan’s second film at the Raiwai campus yesterday.

“We are now working on this production but it’s not going to be shot in the hospital, we are planning to shoot in two university campuses,” he said.

Dr Rai also mentioned that the department has already produced 3 television programmes.

“We have already worked on 3 TV programmes and are now working on the fourth one."

First documentary that the department produced was about healthy eating called “Kana Bula”  while the second was called “Carriers Corner” and the third was a comedy drama titled “Taxi 786”.

The fourth production which gets off the ground has been titled "White Socks".
