Fiji’s Suva City Council Special Administrator Chandu Umaria will be submitting a proposal soon to government to grant special rebate on city rates to business owners who will be willing to uplift the standards of their properties.
This was revealed during the opening of the new refurbished Terry Walk and newly constructed public convenience in Suva yesterday.
Umaria said the new facilities available would be enhanced if all the adjacent buildings were given a facelift.
“It is my plea to the owners of the buildings and also my plea to every building owner to please paint your building,” Umaria said.
“I will be submitting a proposal on this issue to my Minister and the government to give a tax rebate or a special discount on city rates for the benefits of the property owners to enable them to uplift their properties,” he said.
He said everyone should appreciate all facilities available to them in the city and also to look after them like it is their own.
He also said more projects are expected to get underway in the capital soon.
