Harish Lodhia is Fiji’s first honorary consul in New Zealand.

In presenting Lodhia his exequatur, Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola described it as a significant move in the government’s efforts to provide depth and reach into the prime region of Auckland.

Kubuabola said Auckland is home to many Fijians living in New Zealand and the main centre of economic activities. He said with Fiji government’s representation, Lodhia, in Auckland will help enhance business relations and provide basic consular services to the Fijian community in Auckland.

Lodhia said he was fully aware of the objectives of establishing the consulate and pledged his commitment to ensure that these objectives were met.

“I am honored to contribute in a small way to the country I love. I will do my best to promote Fiji’s interest in Auckland and assist the Government in whatever way possible in its efforts to build a better Fiji for all,” he said.

Lodhia migrated to New Zealand 25 years ago and operates a very successful business in Auckland.

The presentation was witnessed by more than 100 invited guests at a reception organised by the Fiji High Commission in Auckland.
