Position : Lecturer I in Agricultural Economics

Responsibilities :
The appointee will be responsible to the Dean, through the Head of Department and will be required to develop and teach Agricultural economics units at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Duties include carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. The appointee will also be required to undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Dean of the College.

Minimum Qualification Requirements :

Relevant high quality Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics (or equivalent), OR a relevant high quality Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years relevant, post-PGD work experience, OR a relevant high quality Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years post-degree relevant work experience. Applicants with higher qualifications and teaching experience will have an added advantage. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential. The appointee is expected to demonstrate capacity to undertake independent teaching and research in their discipline or related areas. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching, a Lecturer 1 appointee will make an independent contribution through professional practice and expertise and co-ordinate and/or lead the activities of other staff, as appropriate to the discipline.

Salary :
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and abilities would be negotiated with the successful applicant.
