Position : Lecturer I in Biology (Re-advertised - 2 Positions)
College/Division : College of Engineering, Science & Technology

Responsibilities :
The appointee will be required to teach students at various levels (diploma, degree and postgraduate). The College offers certificate, diploma and degree programmes in the subject area of Biology. Most units involve laboratory and/or project work and field research. Duties include, besides teaching, carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students.

Minimum Qualification Requirements :

Relevant high quality Master’s degree in Biology (or equivalent), OR a relevant high quality Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years post-PGD work experience in teaching or in a laboratory, OR a relevant high quality Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 yrs post-degree work experience in teaching or in a laboratory. Applicants with higher qualifications and teaching experience will be given preference. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential and such candidates may be considered for a lower position.

The appointee is expected to demonstrate capacity to undertake independent teaching and research in their discipline or related areas. Lecturer 1 appointee will make an independent contribution in teaching, scholarship in teaching and/or research, through professional practice, co-ordinate and/or lead the activities of other staff, as appropriate to the discipline.

Salary :
Attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, to be negotiated with the successful applicants.
