Former PM in police custody for PER breach

Former Fiji Prime Minister and Labour Party  leader Mahendra Chaudhry is currently being held by Police in Rakiraki after he was taken in for violating the Public Emergency Regulation.

Police spokesman Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed this saying that Chaudhry is alleged to have breached the Public Emergency Regulations while in Rakiraki today.

While he did not want to elaborate further, Sokomuri said he would be able to release details of the arrest once Police complete questioning the former parliamentarian.

"I can confirm that he was taken in for questioning by Rakiraki Police for allegedly breaching the Public Emergency Regulations today," he said

"But that's all i can say at this moment, i will be able to release full details of the arrest once Police complete questioning him,"

Sokomuri said Chaudhry is currently held at the Rakiraki Police Station.
