The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LICI) has set a regional first by allowing members to pay their insurance premiums, through their mobile phones.

General manager of LICI Fiji, Krishnan Narasimhan said the service would be provided free of charge and was targeted to help those in outer islands and rural areas who did not have ready access to banks.

He said the system targeted Micro Life Insurance policy holders but was open to all members holding insurance policy holders with LICI.
