Ten thousand six hundred and nine registered last night bringing up the total of registered voters to 84,330.

The Elections Office as of yesterday managed to register 3496 people in the Central division, 4223 in the Western division, 2562 in the Northern division and 328 in the Eastern division.

The total number now registered in the Central division is 42,638, in the Western division 27,358, in the Northern division, 12,069 and 2265 in the Eastern division.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said registration is not compulsory but everyone is encouraged to register as this is the only way people would be able to vote and have their say during the 2014 elections.
