Taxi drivers in Fiji have been warned to be careful when driving.

This warning comes after police statistics have shown that an average of two taxi drivers is robbed every week.

Police said the latest case involves three teenagers who assaulted and robbed a 53 year-old taxi driver in Lami yesterday afternoon and stole $100 cash.

Two of them are now in police custody.

Another incident occurred on Sunday morning where three men robbed a taxi driver in Toorak and stole $90 cash, taxi meter and a car radio.

The suspects hired the taxi from a night club in Suva.

Police is calling on all taxi drivers to consider their safety and drive into the nearest Police Station or Community Post if they feel threatened.
