A 21-year-old farmer of Naweni District School is now dead after he went diving and his spear gun got tangled with the reef under 60 feet of water.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the farmer was later found by his companion lying motionless and his body was retrieved by the help of two China Railway workers.

The farmer was then taken to the Savusavu hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body is now awaiting post mortem.
