A total of 8144 people registered on Wednesday across Voter Registration Centres around Fiji bringing the provisional grand total of people registered for the 2014 elections to 408,861.

The Elections Office managed to register 1886 people in the Central division, 2257 in the West, 3924 in the North and only 77 people registered in the Eastern division.

Now the Elections Office has registered a total of 160,374 in the Central division, 153,271 in the Western division, 73,966 in the North and 21,250 in the Eastern division.

The Elections Office aims to register more than 600,000 during the registration period.

Registrations are expected to end by the end of this month but only a few centres will remain open to cater for those who have not registered on time.
