Fiji's Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is leading a delegation to the United Arab Emirates this week to open the country's newest embassy in Abu Dhabi.
The Fiji delegation includes officials from Fiji’s Foreign Ministry, Fiji’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Investment Fiji, and other support staff.
The opening of Fiji’s newest mission in the United Arab Emirates will position Fiji’s interests within the Gulf region and the Middle East.
Academic Robin Nair was this year announced as Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. An experienced diplomat, Ambassador Nair has been busy finalising logistics and arrangements to prepare for the embassy opening.
This week Nair was provided AED500,000 from the President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a gift to the government to assist in the opening of the embassy.
Fiji’s embassy will be located at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, where France also has their mission.
