All Nations Christian Fellowship general superintendent Epeli Ratabacaca has asked to be allowed to travel overseas for a conference next month.

Ratabacaca faces two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault. He has pleaded not guilty.

Defence lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo told the High Court that his client will need to travel to Australia for a church conference.

Vosarogo said the conference will start on October 9 and end on October 16, 2012 and his client needs to leave on October 6.

He said Ratabacaca will return before his November 1 trial date.

DPP lawyer Lisiate Fotofili said the State does not have any confidence in Ratabacaca.

Fotofili said the State needs time as they received the submission this morning.

However Judge Justice Paul Madigan said Ratabacaca has not breached any conditions as he returned at the exact time given to the court previously.

Justice Madigan said he was aware of Ratabacaca has just returned from Scotland but the defence should also be aware that the trip will be made close to the trial date.

Vosarogo said his client will be present 14 days before trial begins.

Justice Madigan will make his ruling on his Australia travel on October 1.
