Police are investigating an incident where a 3- year- old girl was found floating in a river in Namaka, Nadi by a villager last night.

Fiji Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that at 6.45pm the father of the deceased found his daughter missing from home after which a search with villagers was conducted.

She was later found at around 9pm as the deceased’s body was found floating in a nearby river by a villager.

“She was conveyed to the Nadi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival,” Naisoro said.

Investigations are continuing and a post mortem is expected to be conducted soon.

Police is once again urging parents and guardians to keep a close eye on their children’s movements during this festive season.
