Mani praised in Bollywood premiere Fiji born actor Anil Rai Mani is making headlines in Bollywood for his role in director Raju Kafley’s psychological journey- Nirankush.

Not only has Mani created history by becoming the first Fijian to a break into Bollywood, he also received accolades and praises from top guns in the industry during the premiere of the movie in Mumbai last week.

Mani in his unique style portrays himself in a dark shed experimental character in   Nirankush which is a story of an insecure psychological condition of a person and an outcome of the conflict between the two different thought levels in one brain.

Speaking exclusively to FijiLive from Mumbai, Mani said he was overwhelmed by the support given to him and the praises by the industry’s highly respected individuals has boosted his confidence.

“India now feels like my own home now and I was nervous and excited about the premiere. After the show I was moved by the result and appreciation. I don't have words to describe my feelings,” said Mani who hails from Tavua.

“Opportunity for being a cultural ambassador for my country is a matter of immense satisfaction for me. I am extremely overwhelmed. I thank my family and friends for being by my side. Getting here is a huge achievement and all credit goes to Raju Kafley, who had faith in me to cast me for this role.”

“Getting praised by people like legendary lyricist Mr Sudhakar Sharma and Mr Jay Seth, a renowned celebrity photographer and Dadasaheb phalke award winner truly means a lot to me as a artist and I am looking forward to working in more projects in the near future,”

Praising Mani in a Mumbai Global interview, Sharma said he was impressed by the actor’s performance as he was very natural and self controlled in the film while Seth said Mani’s look in the film is very unique and his personality conveys a lot.

After his impressive performance, Mani has managed to secure a role in Kafley’s next project which is expected to release in 18 months time.

Prior to joining Bollywood, Mani started production in Fiji in 2008 and produced a music video titled Humare Sapne before producing a full length movie Jodi in 2010. He also starred as the main character in the movie.
