Speaking role for locals in Bollywood movie The latest Bollywood movie to be shot in Fiji will have local artists in speaking roles.

The movie titled Santa Banta is a comedy flick has top artists; Boman Irani, Neha Dhupia, Lisa Ray, Johnny Lever and Ram Kapoor in lead roles.

Speaking to FijiLive, Film Fiji acting chief executive Florence Swamy said the production house Cinetek Films will be recruiting local people for roles in the movie and some will be very special roles.

"I have been told by the production team that they will be using our local talents in the movie as well and this indeed is great news for our budding and talented artists," she said.

"Some of the local actors will have speaking roles in the movie and should share some space on the screen alongside the top Bollywood artists while the others will be used in dance, action and other scenes when required."

"Our artists got roles in the other two movies which were released recently and we are working closely with the Bollywood troupes which arrive here for shoots to give as much exposure possible to our local artists."

Swamy added that they are also in talks with the Fiji National University's Film and Theatre school and are looking at recruit students from the school for roles in movies.

Meanwhile, the inauguration of Santa Banta was held today in Nadi. Attorney General and Minister for Trade Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was the chief guest at the function.

The movie will be shot across various locations in Fiji over the next 35 days.
