16-year-old Phillipa Steele has created history by becoming the first Fijian model to sign with one of the most prestigious modeling agencies – Trump Model Management.

The form 6 student of Sigatoka Methodist College was selected by the world famous agency’s director of scouting Duane Gazi yesterday in Suva.

She was selected out of a pool of more than 50 girls.

Speaking to FijiLive Gazi said the teenage beauty stunned him with her looks and appearance and will surely make it big on the international arena.

“The moment she entered the room, she totally captivated my senses and presented what I was actually looking for. She is absolutely beautiful and has a very long way to go,” he said.

“The other girls were good as well but what Phillipa stood out and she definitely has what it takes to be a supermodel.”

“This is the first time ever for us to select a model from Fiji and like Phillipa, we are also very excited to give her all the exposure she needs and guide her to stardom.”

Steele when contacted by FijiLive was overjoyed and said she will now be able to live her dream and make her parents proud.

“I am absolutely happy to be selected and thank god and my parents for all the love and support,” she said from her home in Kulukulu, Sigatoka.

“No one can ever know how grateful I am for this opportunity. I have always wanted to better the lives of my family and provide them with some financial support. With this opportunity, I will be able to support them and put a smile on their faces.”

“I am ready to give my best and fly Fiji’s flag high and I aim to remain in the industry for good and establish my name as one of the best models,” she added.

Trump Model Management has been at the forefront of fashion with the representation of famous supermodels – Jodie Kidd and Tatjana Patitz.

No stranger to the limelight and as one of the world’s biggest business moguls, Trump founded his boutique model agency in 1999 and to date has developed it as one of the most renowned agencies on the fashion circuits.

His models have graced many a covers for the prestigious Vogue magazines, numerous editorial and campaigns for the world’s biggest designers such as Dolce and Gabbanna, Valentino, DKNY, Versace to doting the runways at New York, Paris, London, Madrid, Milan and many more fashion weeks worldwide.

Steele will fly out to New York early next year after completing secondary education at home.
