Parliamentary Committee meets ILO Mission The Standing Committee on Justice, Law and Human Rights yesterday met with members of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Tripartite Mission.

Committee Chairman and Government Whip Ashneel Sudhakar said the discussion was fruitful as it enabled them to elaborate on issues regarding workers’ rights.

“The meeting was part of their mission to enquire about issues regarding the workers’ rights under the ERP.”

“The two points discussed were on bargaining unit aspect, whether it was necessary to have bargaining unit or not. Second issue was the expansion of the essential industries.”

“Generally, the team was satisfied as the Committee had explained in detail the issues that were raised,” he added.

The ILO delegation met Prime Minister, Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations, the Attorney General , Fiji Chamber of Commerce and various trade unions earlier in the week.

They will conclude their visit today after meeting with the Solicitor General and the Chairman of the Public Service Commission.
