New Government by November end With the deadline of November 28 set for the return of the 2018 Election Writ, Fiji will have a new Government by November end.

President Major-General (Retired) Jioji Konrote while presenting the Writ to Electoral Commission Chairman Suresh Chandra in Suva today, read out the time-line stipulated under the 2013 Fijian Constitution.

“You must cause a Poll to be taken on the 14th day of November, 2018 and that you may cause pre-poll voting and postal voting prior to the 14th day of November, 2018.”

“And I command you to endorse the names of the candidates elected as members of Parliament and return this Writ on or before the 28th day of November, 2018.”

Following the issuance of the Writ, Mr. Chandra held a media conference where he gave a time-line of the General Election.

All polling venues around the country will open at 7.30am and close at 6pm on elections day and provisional results will be progressively released from 6pm.

Meanwhile postal voting will close on October 24 and pre-polling is scheduled to commence on November 05 and end on November 10.

51 seats will be contested in the 2018 General Election- the second election to take place under the 2013 Constitution.
