Truth and substantive justice prevailed: Bainimarama

Former Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says he had faith that truth and substantive justice would prevail in his case, and so they have, following the granting of an absolute discharge to him by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

In a message posted on the FijiFirst social media page, Bainimarama said, “We’re (Mary and I) deeply touched by the support and prayers so many of you have offered us and our family these past several months.”

On the occasion of Easter, he has asked all Fijians to direct their thoughts and prayers to the many families on the frontlines of the recent floods throughout the country.

“We wish them all a fast recovery. Let us also pray for those who are ill and unwell.”

“And let us extend our prayers further, to our peacekeepers who serve abroad, far away from the love and comfort of their families.”

“Easter commemorates Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for humanity on the cross and the miracle of his resurrection. It is the most powerful story of love in the Christian faith, and one that every Fijian can appreciate.”

“Jesus lived for all of us, he died for all of us, and he was risen from the dead to show us that love and hope are eternal, that renewal is always possible, and to offer us the promise of redemption and eternal life.”

“So please, as we enjoy this long holiday with our loved ones, let us strive to live as nobly as Jesus lived. Let us love one another, irrespective of our backgrounds. Let us love each other without exception. Let us love each other as powerfully as Jesus did,” he said.
