By Reginald Chandar

Taveuni has progressed to the Premier Division final of the 2012 Inter Distrcit Championship after defeating Dreketi 2-0 in the first semifinal this afternoon at Govind Park in Ba.

The boys from the Garden Island of Fiji scored their goals in the first spell through Samuel Nair and Vineel Naidu and defended the second spell well with goalkeeper Kaair Khan working overtime to keep a clean sheet in the match.

Dreketi fought hard till the final whistle but was unfortunate to not to score as their attackers took five shots at goal in the closing stages of the match.

Coach Hussein said his players stuck to the gamplan he had mapped for the encounter.

"We played according to the gameplan that was set and I am thanking my players for giving their best and making us proud by taking us to the final."

"We now want to win the final and take the Cup back home," he said.

Taveuni will play the winner of the second semifinal which is currently in progress between defending champion Lami and Tailevu Naitasiri.
