Champs Rewa in tough BOG pool

Reigning champion Rewa has been drawn in a tough pool for this year’s INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants (BOG) which will be played at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park next month.

The Delta Tigers are pooled with Fiji FACT winners Nadi, Suva and Dreketi in Group A while giants Ba, Lautoka, Labasa and Nadroga make up Group B.

The pools were drawn at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Suva today.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel thanked sponsor INKK Mobile for sponsoring the tournament for the 8th consecutive year and said playing 90 minutes football has brought about a lot of positive results in the country.

“90 minutes football is paying a lot of dividends with teams progressing well on both the local and international arena. Competition has been intensive and fierce on the local scene while our national teams have also qualified and played in world events like the Fiji U20 World Cup and the upcoming Olympic Games.”

“BOG is a very popular tournament on the Fiji FA calendar and we are thankful to INKK Mobile for their continued support and sponsorship. Definitely this will be another successful tournament and all teams will come prepared to win,” he said.

A sponsorship cheque of $60,000 was presented to Fiji FA and the winner of the tournament will walk away with $15,000, the runner up will receive $5000 while the losing semifinalists will each get $1000.

The group matches will be played from August 26-28 and the semifinals and final will be played at a different venue a week later.

Rewa defeated Ba 2-0 in last year’s tournament with brothers Iosefo Verevou and Epeli Saukuru scoring a goal in each half.
