Blues outclass 10-man Labasa

Lautoka started its campaign on a high note in the 2016 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants and outclassed Labasa 4-2 at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

The Blues looked more fitter and hungry to win from the opening whistle and went up in the 22nd minute through Valerio Nawatu.

Labasa was reduced to ten players just before halftime after striker Christopher Wasasala received his second booking of the match.

Lanky defender Leone Damudamu leveled scores for the Babasiga Lions early in the second half after connecting to a Taniela Waqa corner kick with a beautiful header.

But Lautoka had a lot of gas in its tank and scored three unanswered goals to seal the impressive win.

Stylish marksman Mohammed Shazil Ali bagged a brace while veteran Peni Finau rocketed in the fourth goal for the Blues.

Replacement striker Gabriel Matanisiga scored a late consolation for Labasa.

Lautoka faces Ba in its match at 5pm tomorrow while Labasa will take on Nadroga at 3pm.

The teams:

Labasa- Akuila Mateisuva,  Christopher Wasasala, Edwin Sahayam, Ravinesh Singh, Manasa Levaci, Ratu Anare, Ilisoni Logaivou, Taione Kerevanua, Ilisoni Lolaivalu, Taniela Waqa (C), Leone Damudamu.
