Jetsetters hold champs Rewa

Reigning champion Rewa was held to a 1-1 draw by Nadi in the feature Day 1 match of the 2016 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori tonight.

The Marika Rodu coached side despite enjoying more possession and goal scoring opportunities failed to register a win as the Jetsetters lifted their game in the second half and played with more urgency.

The Delta Tigers opted for Benito Waqavou ahead of veteran Simione Tamanisau in goal and also kept regulars Lorima Dau, Usaia Tadu and Savenaca Nakalevu on the bench.

Midfielder Misaele Draunibaka scored the lone goal of the first half in the 37th minute from a rebound after goalkeeper Vereti Dickson initially blocked a powerful drive from Epeli Saukuru.

Nadi made a few tactical changes in the second half and national rep Anish Khem headed in the equalizer after connecting well with a Vuniuci Tikomaimereke cross in the 78th minute.

The result leaves all the four teams in Group A with a point each as the earlier match between Dreketi and Suva ended in a 4-4 draw.

Nadi plays Dreketi at 1pm tomorrow while Rewa and Suva will clash in the feature Day 2 match at 7pm.
