Labasa hits seven past Nadroga

Former Fiji U20 marksman Gabriel Matanisiga netted a hat-trick as Labasa walloped Nadroga 7-0 in its second Group B match of the 2016 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants at Ratu Cakobau Park today.

The Babasiga Lions after being outclassed 4-2 by Lautoka last night made a couple of changes to their lineup and looked more hungry and determined to win.

Matanisiga missed a penalty in the 21st minute after goalkeeper Parmesh Prasad brought down Ratu Anare inside the Nadroga box.

Anare opened the scoring in the 28th minute after neatly beating goalie Prasad in the air and tapping the ball into an empty net.

Matanisiga headed in his first goal of the day two minutes later and Ravinesh Karan Singh followed with a double in the 38th and 40th minute.

Matanisiga scored Labasa’s sixth goal just before halftime for the comfortable lead.

The second half did not produce much spark but Nadroga bettered its performance and made some good attacking moves.

The day however belonged to Matanisiga as he struck again in the 84th minute to seal the big win.

Labasa faces Ba in its final match at 4pm tomorrow while Nadroga will face Lautoka at 10am.
