Pair fined $10k, eligible to play in IDC

Fiji Football Association has fined Lautoka’s Kolinio Sivoki and Suva’s Sakaraia Naisua $10,000 each and suspended the two players for the remainder of this season.

The pair broke camp and went on a drinking spree on July 16, the day the team was named for Rio Olympics and were immediately dropped and indefinitely suspended.

The players will be eligible to represent their respective districts from the Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) - the first tournament of the new season.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said they have made a very fair decision and have taken into consideration factors like livelihood of the players and so on.

He said the players have to be punished for their wrongdoings as Fiji FA had invested a lot in the team’s preparations for the Olympics and their actions had let the team down as the final squad went to Brazil with a player less.
