Suva upsets Rewa, remains on course

Reigning champion Rewa suffered a 1-0 loss to neighbours and arch rivals Suva in the feature Day 2 match of the 2016 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants at Ratu Cakobau Park tonight.

Striker Samuela Drudru scored the lone goal of the encounter midway in the second half to keep Suva’s campaign on track while the loss puts a lot of pressure on the Delta Tigers.

Suva Coach Gurjit Singh made some tactical changes and relegated goalkeeper Benamino Mateinaqara and sweeper Jale Dreloa to the bench while Emori Ragata started in goal and Madhavan Goundar shifted into the last line of defence.

Suva now leads Group A with four points after two matches while Rewa has a single point and will need to beat Dreketi at any cost in its last match tomorrow to stand a chance.

Dreketi and Nadi currently have two points each and will also need positive results in their matches.

Group A as it stands, remains wide open and the results of last round of matches will determine the two qualifiers to the semifinals.

Rewa and Dreketi will clash at midday while Suva and Nadi will battle it out at 2pm.
