Farina’s contract reportedly terminated

Fiji Football Association is believed to have terminated national coach Frank Farina’s contract.

While there is no confirmation by the parent body on the termination, it is believed the former Socceroos player and coach failed to report to duties after the Rio Olympics and submit a report on the team’s performance at the Games.

He was also not present at the recent Battle Of Giants tournament in Nausori.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel when contacted by FijiLive for a comment said they will make a statement on the issue tomorrow.

“Well this is a rumour that people are speculating and we will be in a better position to make a comment on the issue by tomorrow.”

Farina was hired to guide Fiji in its first ever outing at the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand last year.

Following that, he was offered the National Coaching Director’s role after Fiji FA terminated Juan Carlos Buzzetti’s contract late last year.

In his new role, Farina coached the national team to the OFC Nations Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
