Rewa has climbed to the fourth spot on the Vodafone Premier League standings after beating Labasa 1-0 in an exciting clash at Ratu Cakobau Park today.
Labasa entered the match as favorites after beating Suva 3-0 yesterday and the return of Manasa Levaci from suspension further boosted their defence.
The first half failed to produce any goals as the teams were equally matched and shared almost equal number of opportunities in front of goal.
The Delta Tigers were reduced to ten players early in the second half after striker Misaele Draunibaka was sent off following his second booking of the match.
With a man short, Coach Marika Rodu made a couple of tactical changes and this resulted in seasoned campaigner Joseph Mishra finding the back of the net in the 69th minute after neatly finishing off a Tevita Waranaivalu delivery from the right hand corner with a well timed header.
Labasa almost leveled scores in the 82nd minute from a Taniela Waqa free-kick but a reflex save by veteran goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau saved the day for the hosts.
Rewa now has 13 points after 7 matches and is level with Suva on points but superior goal difference keeps the Whites on the third spot.
Labasa on the other hand remains on sixth spot with 9 points after 7 matches.
