Dreketi holds IDC champs in Northern derby

Dreketi has further strengthened its bid to remain in Premier Division after holding Inter District Champions Labasa 1-1 in a Vodafone Premier League clash at Subrail Park tonight.

The Johan Leewai coached side now has 8 points from 10 matches and has a better advantage over bottom placed Nadroga who have no points after same number of games.

Nippy striker Ashnil Raju opened the account for Dreketi in the 12th minute of play and some persistent pressure from the Babasiga Lions saw them get their equalizer through Ratu Apenisa Anare in the 23rd minute.

The teams rested 1-1 at halftime and despite making numerous attempts on each other’s goalmouth in the second spell, neither of the two could score any further goal and clinch three full points from the encounter.

Dreketi remains on seventh spot with 8 points while Labasa has climbed to the fourth spot with 16 points.
