Lautoka wallops Nadi in VPL

Defending champion Nadi suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at the hands of neighbours Lautoka in a Vodafone Premier League fixture at Prince Charles Park tonight.

The Blues were ruthless from the beginning and stylish striker Mohammed Shazil Ali was the toast of the side as he netted a treble in the first half.

A defensive mistake allowed Ali to open Lautoka’s account in the 13th minute.

He followed with his second and third in the 22nd and 41st minute as Lautoka led 3-0 at halftime.

Leisari Qalica and Ratu Josefata Dugucagi netted two further goals in the second half as the hosts had no answer to the onslaught from the sugar city boys.

Lautoka has now narrowed the gap on the standings and trails to leaders by 5 points. Lautoka has 20 points after 10 matches while Ba has 25.

Nadi remains on the 6th spot with 11 points after 9 matches.

The Jetsetters will play Rewa in their next match at 3pm tomorrow in Nausori.
