Matarerega hungry to net more goals

Nadi marksman Rusiate Matarerega is hungry to score more goals in the 2016 Inter District Championship (IDC) in Suva.

The 23-year-old who was dropped from the Olympic squad and was unwanted by Suva in the last two tournaments of the season believes he has a lot to prove to his critics.

“I am back and I am ready to give my best,” he told FijiLive after scoring his first goal of the tournament against Ba in their last pool match.

“It feels great to score in the Nadi jersey and I am thankful to the Nadi officials for giving me the opportunity to revive my career.”

“This year has been very tough for me and I want to give my best and make some people especially my family and my personal sponsor- Mr Sanjay Kirpal happy with my performance. They were there for me when nobody else was and they helped me to get back on track and rejoin Nadi in this window.”

Matarerega is confident about their chances in the semfinal against Labasa and adds that team work and the trust in each on the field will help them achieve success.

“We believe in team effort. I am happy to return and play with Qase after some time. We have some very good team players and if we do things right in the semifinal then surely we will be in the final and go home victorious.”

Nadi plays Labasa in the first semifinal at 3pm.
