Rewa beats Suva, jumps to 2nd spot

Rewa has climbed to the second spot in the Vodafone Premier League standing after beating neighbours Suva 2-1 in a southern derby at Ratu Cakobau Park.

Suva featured for the first time in 5 years without Coach Gurjit Singh who resigned last week and this seemed to have little impact as they managed to go into the lead through veteran midfielder and assistant coach Pita Rabo in the 15th minute.

Rabo connected with a Setareki Hughes free-kick and headed the ball beyond the reach of Epeli Loaniceva to stun the home fans.

Suva led 1-0 at halftime but a 52nd minute equalizer by Epeli Saukuru and an 80th minute strike by Simione Tamanisau sealed the win for the hosts.

Rewa now has 16 points after playing 8 matches and trails to leaders Ba by 3 points while Suva remains on fourth place with 13 points after 8 matches.
