Suva sweats on fitness of key players

The Suva football team has been plagued with injuries and team officials are keeping their fingers crossed ahead of their 2016 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) opener against Labasa tomorrow.

Veteran Pita Rabo, lanky defender Waisake Navunigasau and striker Kelvin Naidu are nursing knee and ankle injuries and are taking a cautious approach in the training sessions.

Coach Gurjit Singh told FijiLive that they will closely assess the fitness level of the players before making a decision on the starting team.

"Yes we have some injury concerns. Some players have niggling injuries but three key players have some serious injuries and we are monitoring them."

Singh however is relieved to have Setareki Hughes and Jale Dreloa back in the team and believes the two players together with newly recruited Ravinesh Karan Singh will lead their campaign well.

Finance Pacific Suva will open its campaign against Labasa at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Suva squad- Emori Ragata, Epeli Lairoti, Tomasi Tuicakau, Jale Dreloa, Nickel Chand, Pita Rabo, Setareki Hughes, Kaliova Tivulu, Kelvin Naidu, Madhwan Goundar, Tomasi Uculoa, Don Raj, Ivan Kumar, Waisake Navunigasau, Shahil Dave, Filipe Baravilala, Aklesh Prasad, Jesoni Takala, Ravinesh Karan Singh, Alivereti Baleloa, Tevita Koroi.
