Former City stars to feature for Auckland

Former Auckland City reps Iwa Shaker and Andrew Milne will spearhead the Auckland All Stars’ campaign in the 2016 Pacific Cup which commences on Wednesday at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.

Auckland All Stars is making a second appearance in the tournament and team manager Nadeem Hakim is confident about their chances.

Speaking to FijiLive, Mr Hakim said they fell short of qualifying for the semi-finals last year and will look to make amends this time around.

He said they have a good blend of experienced and youth players and the inclusion of guest players should strengthen their campaign.

Marksman Shaker will pair up with Solomon Islands international Benjamin Totori while Milne will use his experience to guide the backline with former US College footballer Joseph Dawkins who will be in goal.

Italian Santiago Fablo and UK born Callum Schofield will feature in midfield.

Former Navua rep Sheik Moshin, former Rewa and Labasa midfielder Ratu Luke Lomasalato, former Fiji U20 reps Divishek Deo and Altaaf Sahib and defender Mohammed Ishak are the other known players in the Auckland squad.

Auckland All Stars will be coached by former Fiji U17 mentor Hussein Sahib.

The side is grouped with Lautoka, Rewa, Suva and the USA All Stars in Group B and opens its campaign in the Ram's Cleaning Services Pacific Cup against Lautoka at 4.30pm on Thursday.
