NCC champs make winning start

Defending champion 4R Electic of Ba started its campaign in the 2016 Vodafone National Club Championship with an impressive 2-1 win over Suva’s Civic FC at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Ba today.

Civic suffered an early setback in the match after top defender Filipe Baravilala was sent off for dangerous play.

Veteran Pita Rabo scored the lone goal of the first half to give Civic a 1-0 halftime lead.

But two goals after the break by Ba defender Patrick Senivalati saw the champions walk away with three points.

In other matches, Bureta FC of Suva won by default over Nadroga’s Green Star, Press FC of Lautoka defeated Tailevu Naitasiri’s Lokia FC 2-0 while last year’s runners up FC City United of Lautoka played to a 2-2 draw against Nadi’s Gandhi FC.
