Veteran Tamanisau chases BOG glory

Suva goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau who will be the oldest player in the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants (BOG) semifinals today is eager to give his best and help the Whites progress to the final.

The 36-year-old, who hoisted the BOG trophy as the Captain of last year’s winners Rewa, says this year his aim is to guide his newly adopted district to achieve greatness in Lautoka.

“I have won the BOG title a couple of times in the past and know the feeling of winning but this year is a bit different and special. I am with Suva and this district has not won for a long time now. As the oldest and one of the most experienced players, it becomes my responsibility to guide the team.”

“I know the task ahead is tough but if we play as a team; remain focused and display good football and maintain our discipline then there should be no stopping for us.”

“We have a great set of players and Coach Gurjit is working very hard to set-up a winning combination.”

“Our opponents will prepare well too so the difference on the field will be the fitness, focus and determination of the players and the team which is well prepared and hungry will surely win,” he added.

Apart from Tamanisau, Suva will also heavily depend on national captain Remueru Tekiate, Sakaraia Naisua, Ravinesh Karan Singh, Shahil Dave, Waisake Navunigasau, Filipe Baravilala and Bruce Hughes.

Professional Valuation sponsored Suva will face Lincoln Refrigeration sponsored Labasa in the first semifinal at 2pm.
