Late Solomons goal upsets Fiji U19

The Vodafone Fiji U19 side lost its second group match to the Solomon Islands 1-0 in Tahiti today.

The Bal Sanju Reddy coached side entered the match with high hopes after their 3-1 win over Vanuatu earlier in the week.

An 88th minute goal by substitute striker Tuita Maeobia sealed the win for the Solomon Islands.

Solomon Islands now lead Group B with 6 points as they also won their opening match 3-2 against New Caledonia.

Fiji plays its final group match against New Caledonia at 4pm (Fiji Time) on Monday and will need a win in that fixture to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
