Kumar and Lal scoop snooker title

New Zealand-based Sanjay Kumar won the 2012 Carz and Carz sponsored Southern Division Billiard and Snooker Association title following a 4-2 win over Fiji’s number 2 Jitendra Prasad of Nausori in a thrilling finale at Suva’s Merchant Club over the weekend.

Kumar and Prasad shared the highest break prize money where they each made 60. Kumar recently won the New Zealand Open Seniors title.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Jusuf of Lautoka Club defeated Moti Lal of Nausori to walk away with the veteran’s title in aggregate frames. Jusuf won over Pravin Kumar of Nausori while Moti Lal defeated Bipin Patel of Merchants club in their respective semi-final matches.

In a number of upsets, Surya Prasad defeated Virendra Prasad, Sikeli Nawaqaliva downed Viliame Umu and Vineel Nand lost to Rahil Prasad.

Lone female Rina Lata qualified for the top 32.
