Late penalty saves leaders Suva

A penalty to midfielder Shahil Dave in the dying stages saw Suva escape with a 3-2 win over Tavua in their Vodafone Premier League clash today at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Leaders Suva entered the match with the favorites tag and managed to go up in the 31 minute through Dave who successfully scored a penalty after Ravinesh Karan Singh was tripped inside the Tavua box.

Policeman Tevita Waranaivalu headed in the second goal for the Whites just before halftime to give them a 2-0 cushion.

Tavua came out strongly in the second half and managed to score through Vilive Naulabalavu and Ratu Dau and level the match with less than 10 minutes to play.

Suva toiled hard for the winner and a blunder in defence cost Tavua a vital one point from the fixture as an attacker was badly fouled inside the box.

Dave rose to the occasion and calmly placed the ball beyond a diving Jovilisi Borisi to register Suva’s fourth win of the season.
