Team Wellington hits six past Lautoka

Team Wellington has boosted its chances of winning the 2018 OFC Champions League title in Lautoka next Sunday after walloping the Blues 6-0 in the first leg of the two-legged final at home today.

The match was played under wet and slippery conditions and the visitors found it difficult to adapt and gave away possession on many occasions during the encounter.

Team Wellington went up in the 16 minute through Ross Allen as Lautoka’s defence wilted under pressure.

The Blues led upfront by Benjamin Totori had some good chances towards the end of the first half but failed to capitalise as the hosts took a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half was completely dominated by Team Wellington and three quick goals in a space of five minutes to replacement Jack-Henry Sinclair, Andrew Bervin and Mario Barcia frustrated Lautoka and this also resulted in the sending off of Praneel Naidu in the 64th minute.

Sinclair again found the back of the net in the 71st minute from a chip-in and Taylor Schrijvers had the final say of the match as he slammed in the sixth goal in the 86th minute.

The second leg of the final will be played at Churchill Park.
