Chiefs outclass Highlanders in Suva

The Chiefs outclassed the Highlanders 45-22 in an exciting Round 17 clash of the Super Rugby competition at the ANZ Stadium in Suva tonight.

Watched by a big Fijian audience, the match commenced with the Highlanders being led onto the field by children of St Christopher’s Home in Nasinu.

All Blacks winger Waisake Naholo who played his 50th match for the Highlanders tonight had his little nephews by his side as he ran onto the pitch.

The Chiefs completely dominated the first half and scored all their six tries of the match to lead 42-0 at halftime.

Fullback Solomon Alaimalo scored the first try just 1 minute and 39 seconds into the match.

Outside centre Anton Lienert-Brown, loose-head prop Karl Tu’inukuafe, left flanker Luke Jacobson, winger Sean Wainui and right winger Toni Pulu scored the other tries while fly-half Damien McKenzie successfully converted all the tries.

The Highlanders- backed by the big Suva crowd came out stronger and better in the second half and managed to score four unanswered tries through inside centre Teihorangi Walden (2) and replacements Aki Seivli and Shannon Frizell.

McKenzie scored the only points of the second spell for the Chiefs through a penalty.
