Fiji makes shaky start in London 7s

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s side made a shaky start in London tonight and fought tooth and nail to beat Argentina 28-19 in its opening match.

The Fijians narrowly led 14-12 at halftime with Vatemo Ravouvou and Sevuloni Mocenacagi scoring their tries.

Argentina scored a converted try early in the second half and defended well to put pressure on the Gareth Baber coached side which introduced Semi Radradra and Josua Tuisova midway in the spell.

Replacements Waisea Nacuqu and Amenoni Nasilasila scored tries in the dying moments to seal the win for the current HSBC World Sevens Series leaders.

Fiji plays Scotland in its next match at 1.26am. The defending champions were beaten 24-12 by New Zealand in their opening match.
