Fiji wallops Canada, faces Ireland in semis

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team thumped Canada 40-7 in its Cup Quarterfinal clash of the London 7s tonight and will face Ireland in the semifinal.

Semi Radradra and Sevuloni Mocenacagi scored Fiji’s tries in the first half while Justin Douglas scored for Canada as the Gareth Baber coached side led 14-7 at halftime.

The second half completely belonged to the Fijians as they scored four unanswered tries through Paula Dranisinukula, Kalione Nasoko, Jasa Veremalua and Vatemo Ravouvou to seal the big win.

Ireland, an invitational side created a huge upset as they defeated the United States of America 22-12 in their quarterfinal clash.

South Africa will play host England in the second semifinal.

The South Africans overcame New Zealand 14-5 while England had to fight hard to beat Australia 21-17.
