Bula boys ready for Malaysian challenge

A young and determined Vodafone Fiji national team is ready to face Malaysia in a one-off international friendly in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

Coach Christophe Gamel believes the clash against the Malaysians will give the Bula Boys a lot of exposure and boost their confidence levels ahead of other international matches that have been lined up this season.

Gamel had to pick a relatively young squad after some senior players failed to report to camp last week.

Tavua youngsters Vilive Naulalevu, Ratu Kaliova Dau and goalkeeper Jovilisi Borisi get the break of their career and are expected to get some game time.

Rewa and Fiji U19 defender Savenaca Baledrokadroka, Nadroga’s Paulo Buke, Nadi’s Ilimotama Jese, Labasa Antonio Tuivuna and Rewa’s Mitieli Namuka have also been selected for the first time while Ilisoni Logaivou makes a comeback after impressing at the recent Fiji FACT.

Ba goalkeeper Misiwani Nairube also returns to top level action after making his last appearance for Fiji in the FIFA U20 World Cup.

Captain Remueru Tekiate, Kolinio Sivoki, Kavaia Rawaqa, Zibraaz Sahib, Laisenia Raura, Rusiate Matarerega and Christopher Wasasala are the regulars in the team while Suva’s Filipe Baravilala and Epeli Leiroti together with Ba youngster Kishan Sami have retained their spots from the last tour of Indonesia.

Fiji plays Malaysia at 12.45am tomorrow.
