Rewa will enter the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants with a lot of confidence after beating Suva 2-0 in their Vodafone Premier League clash at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.
Featuring without five key players, the Delta Tigers entered the field with a lot of determination and did not disappoint their loyal fans.
Iosefo Verevou returned from suspension and featured at sweeper for the first time this afternoon and his performance was impressive as he made some timely blocks and clearances in both spells.
Rewa was awarded a penalty in the 14th minute of play but Epeli Saukuru’s attempt bounced off the left post.
Striker Sairusi Nalaubu opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a powerful low shot which gave goalkeeper Emori Ragata no chance at all.
The hosts managed to double their advantage three minutes later as a Nalaubu shot was tapped into his goal by defender Filipe Baravilala.
Rewa led 2-0 at the break and maintained his consistency in the second half while Suva despite making some good attacking moves, was unable to find the back of the net.
Even the appearance of veteran Simione Tamanisau upfront towards the end of the match could not help the Capital City side.
This fixture was dress rehearsal for the two sides as they will again face-off in the opening match of the Battle Of Giants in Lautoka on Friday.
Rewa after the win has 13 points on the table and has moved up to the fourth spot while Suva remains second with 16 points.
